232 pages Summary: India Wimple can spell. Brilliantly. Every Friday night, she and her family huddle in front of the TV in their small house and watch the Stupendously Spectacular Spelling Bee. When her family suggest she should enter the next Bee, she shrugs it off, saying being on TV is only for rich and pretty people. Her family won't hear it and encourage India to sign up. But there are plenty of obstacles to reaching the finals: something in her past has made India terribly, horribly shy, the Wimples aren't very well off, and moving on to each round costs more than the Wimples can afford.
